Martial Arts School in Fallston

Two time national champion Ian Casale opened a martial arts school in Fallston a year ago. He said that it was not an easy task. The 21 year old black belt said that he knew he was good in the ring but he didn’t know that he would also be a good teacher.

Casale opened the American Karate martial arts school last year and he teaches the physical and mental fundamentals every Monday and Thursday. His students are aged between 7 and 16 years old.

The Oregon Fish and Wildlife has planned to ask residents about their thought on using lead ammunition for hunting. The survey will be mailed this June to random hunters from the state. The department also plans to ask non-hunters about the issue.

Ron Anglin, wildlife division administrator, said that lead ammunition is a national issue due to its effects on human and wildlife health. Other states have plans to change their rules with regards to the use of lead ammunition. California plans to make lead ammunition illegal for hunting starting in 2019.

Female Martial Arts Instructor

Staff Sgt. Jessica Field has just been named as the first female airman to become a certified martial arts instructor as she graduated from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program instructor course with a green belt. She is ready to share what she learned from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Center of Excellence at Quantico, Virginia.

Field said that her overall goal is to take the program back to the Air Force and teach other airmen. She is a member of the 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing based in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Martial Arts team

Kids belonging to the Martial Arts and Fitness Academy’s grappling team won five state championships last July 19 during the North American Grappling Association’s Georgia Championships held in Riverdale, Georgia.

The ten members of the team aged 5 to 18. They won a total of 18 medals from the no gi and gi grappling contest that is hosted yearly by NAGA. Ross Martial Arts instructor Jay Russell said that they usually sent an adult team to the event but they chose to send a lot of kids this year who are students of their Brazilian jiu-jitsu program. Most of the kids completed for the first time during the tournament but they showed the poise of veteran competitors.
